Bamboo Loop: Keep friends and family in the loop with Wacom’s new app
Wacom today announces Bamboo Loop - a new app for iPhone and iPod Touch. It combines principles of photo sharing and messaging in a unique and fun way: digital, paper-like photocards are sent ("looped") to friends, family members and close colleagues.
Unlike many apps in which a photo is added separately to a text message, in Bamboo Loop photos take centre stage and can be illustrated and personalised with the built-in editing tools. Sketch, scribble or write on the photo with the finger or a Bamboo Stylus, loop it back to the creator, send it on to someone new or share it with social networks. Everyone can be creative.
The basic card within the app is a photograph framed with a white border; very handy for personal messages. A style browser offers a choice of different backgrounds, card shapes, patterns, photo filters, colour palettes and effects, enabling users to easily create cards with a nostalgic, artistic or fun feel. Basic styles are free, with the option to purchase additional styles in-app from the Loop Style Gallery priced at £1.49 per pack of four.
Scribbles, drawings or messages can be written on the card in various colours. Zooming in on details is done with a pinch, which allows for detailed drawings. Photographs of mundane objects come alive and old photos can be given the creative treatment.
Bamboo Loop is simply a great way to keep loved ones in the loop. Users can communicate with each other as the digital cards can be fully modified before being passed on to friends. The "Bamboo Loop Like" comes in the form of a smiley face which means users can let friends know if they like the picture. Currently the app works as a one-on-one communication loop, but cards can be shared with a wider group of friends by posting them on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Loop is also ideal as visual blogging tool for users of Tumblr.
Bamboo Loop combines the best of both worlds; a creative photo sharing tool, that also works as a personal messaging service, letting people talk one-on-one.

Samsung announces world's first 5G mmwave mobile technology
Samsung develops adaptive array transceiver technology operating in the millimetre-wave frequency bands for outdoor cellular communications
London, UK - May 13th, 2013 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., announced today that it has successfully developed the world's first adaptive array transceiver technology operating in the millimetre-wave Ka bands for cellular communications. The new technology sits at the core of 5G mobile communications system and will provide data transmission up to several hundred times faster than current 4G networks.
5G mobile communications technology is the next generation of the existing 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network technology. 5G will be capable of providing an ever present Gbps experience to subscribers and offers data transmission speeds of up to several tens of Gbps per base station.

Samsung Secures Millimetre-Wave Transceiver Technologies for 5G Cellular Networks
The implementation of a high-speed 5G cellular network requires a broad band of frequencies, much like an increased water flow requires a wider pipe. While it was a recognised option, it has been long believed that the millimetre-wave bands had limitations in transmitting data over long distances due to its unfavourable propagation characteristics.
However, Samsung's new adaptive array transceiver technology has proved itself as a successful solution. It transmits data in the millimetre-wave band at a frequency of 28 GHz at a speed of up to 1.056 Gbps to a distance of up to 2 kilometres. The adaptive array transceiver technology, using 64 antenna elements, can be a viable solution for overcoming the radio propagation loss at millimetre-wave bands, much higher than the conventional frequency bands ranging from several hundred MHz to several GHz.
Samsung plans to accelerate the research and development of 5G mobile communications technologies, including adaptive array transceiver at the millimetre-wave bands, to commercialise those technologies by 2020.

Acer launches new Global Advertising Campaign featuring Superstar DJ Tiësto
Acer's latest advertising campaign follows Tiësto's Personal Assitant, Vernon, using his Aspire P3 to turn into a Superstar DJ.
New York, (May 3, 2013), Acer today announced the launch of its latest advertising campaign featuring the world famous Superstar DJ, Tiësto and his personal assistant Vernon. Continuing the theme from the 2012 campaigns with Kiefer Sutherland and Megan Fox, the new campaign looks at how our characters use their Acer devices to explore beyond limits and to uncover a different side of themselves.
"For us, advertising is a way to complement our products with a great story that reflects what people love about them: the new experiences they make possible," said Michael Birkin, Chief Marketing Officer. "After last year's campaign we were convinced we were headed in the right direction and we wanted to expand on our story-telling approach. So we've gone a bit further this time, giving the Aspire P3 the starring role in a deeper story that encourages people to ‘explore beyond limits' and gives them some new ways to interact with us."
