Kyocera Mita Launches Green Channel Programme

Accreditation scheme will promote continuous sustainability improvement by business partners

Kyocera Mita UK Ltd today announced the launch of its Green Partner Programme, which will promote sustainability throughout its distribution, reseller and servicing dealer partners. The accreditation scheme will enable Kyocera business partners to demonstrate their achievement in the field of environmental performance to customers and prospective customers.

Kyocera Mita channel partners will be able to apply for one of two different accreditation levels: Green Partner, or Green Partner Plus, depending on their achievement of sustainability criteria. The programme has been designed to accommodate organisations that are at different levels of environmental performance, enabling those who are already advanced to fast-track their accreditation, while those who are still developing environmental policies will be offered practical support in greening their business and achieve recognition for the stage that they have reached.

Tracey Rawling Church, Director of Brand and Reputation at Kyocera Mita UK Ltd, commented: “Our sustainable approach has long been a point of differentiation for Kyocera Mita, and several of our partners already position themselves as sustainable suppliers, taking advantage of the growing weight placed on this area by purchasers. The Green Partner Programme will formalise the achievements of our partners in the field of sustainability, giving customers increased confidence in the claims being made. We have designed the programme to be very flexible, providing a pathway for increasing environmental sustainability that acknowledges companies that are at different points of the journey. This is an important element of Kyocera Mita’s commitment to greening its entire supply chain, both upstream and downstream.”

David Gibson, Managing Director of Altodigital, one of Kyocera’s premier partners comments “We have always placed significant focus on our environmental credentials not just in terms of our own organisation’s carbon footprint, but also in ensuring that our customers benefit from carbon reduction through the solutions and services we provide. Kyocera has a reputation for leading the way in environmental sustainability within the industry and the Green Partner Programme is a fantastic initiative which we are very keen to support.”

To achieve Green Partner status, Kyocera Mita channel partners will need to demonstrate that they have policies in place covering sustainable office working, sourcing and recycling. They will also need to show that they inform customers about WEEE recycling and Kyocera’s toner returns service, as well as wider issues around the responsible use of office equipment. In addition to these mandatory criteria partners will be able to select from optional criteria to attain the remainder of the points required. This recognises the variation in partner business models and their progress on the sustainability agenda.

Channel partners who have independently verified carbon emissions reduction achievement, ISO 14001 accreditation, a sustainable procurement policy, CSR reporting and a demonstrable customer engagement programme will be automatically fast-tracked to Green Partner Plus status.

Kyocera Mita will provide supporting resources to enable its partners to self-assess their organisations, plus tools and advice to help them improve their performance.
