Following the 11th March earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan, FUJIFILM can confirm that the factory responsible for production of the new FinePix X100 digital camera has been temporarily shut down due to safety concerns.
Fortunately, none of the workers at the factory are reported injured but inevitably some damage has occurred to the factory building, causing a temporary halt in production for the FinePix X100. FUJIFILM is currently assessing the factory conditions as well as accessibility via domestic logistics and is working to determine the potential impact on the X100 market availability and initially scheduled release dates.
I'm sure you will also want to join us in extending our thoughts and condolences to everyone affected by these terrible events in Japan.
FUJIFILM is making every effort to quickly gather the information needed to provide an accurate update to our retail partners and consumers.
FUJIFILM appreciates your patience and will provide a formal update as soon as possible.
