D-Link Introduces ShareCenter™ 2-Bay Cloud Network Storage Enclosure with mydlink™ Cloud Services

New cloud Network Attached Storage Enclosure allows remote users to view documents and multimedia anytime, anywhere, from any device

LONDON, 9 July 2012 - D-Link today introduced the latest addition to its cloud family; the ShareCenterTM 2-Bay Cloud Network Storage Enclosure (DNS-320L). This new 2-bay storage device is DLNA-certified, providing convenient remote access to files and multimedia from the industry leading mydlinkTM website or mobile app available for iPhone®, iPad® or AndroidTM devices. Once up and running, registered mydlinkTM users can play stored music, watch videos, and view photos on their ShareCenterTM instantly and directly from any internet-connected device.

"Being able to securely access shared files while at home or on the go is a necessity in today's digital, on-the-move world. The DNS-320L integrates with mydlinkTM Cloud Services to eliminate many of the traditional technical challenges associated with securely accessing files remotely," said Adrian Edwards, Consumer Solutions Manager at D-Link UK & Ireland. "No amount of storage is useful unless it's readily available. That's why we've made Cloud Storage products so easy to access from any internet-enabled device so that documents and multimedia are instantly available at the touch of a screen."

Create a Personal Cloud

Smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices provide users with the ease and convenience of portability. Unfortunately, this portability often comes at the expense of space for storing files and multimedia. With the ShareCenterTM 2-Bay Cloud Network Storage Enclosure, these limitations are a thing of the past, with up to 6TB storage capacity for a content library that is accessible virtually anywhere. This new ShareCenterTM device achieves this by establishing a ‘personal cloud' that allows owners to access and maintain control over their digital content. Once registered to mydlinkTM Cloud Services, content stored on this device is reachable from any compatible web browser or from a mobile device running the mydlinkTM app for iOS or AndroidTM.

Stream and Share Multimedia

The ShareCenterTM 2-Bay Cloud Network Storage Enclosure is a convenient repository for files of any type, but is especially suited for multimedia such as digital audio, video, and photos. This ShareCenterTM device is DLNA certified, ensuring interoperability with a variety of standalone, mobile, and personal computer-based media players. ShareCenterTM owners with a media player like the Boxee Box by D-Link can stream media directly to their TV without the need for an always-on computer. iPod®, iPad®, and iPhone® users who want to stream their library can benefit from integrated iTunes media server, while content-hungry consumers will find a built-in P2P download engine that hastens the process of downloading new content to the Network Attached Storage device.

Straightforward Installation and Configuration

The ShareCenterTM is designed to be easily set up in minutes. With 2-bays, each currently supporting 3.5" Hard Drives of up to 3TB in capacity, owners need simply open a hatch, slide in a Hard Drive or two, and power on. A convenient set-up wizard simplifies the process of initialising and formatting new drives. High capacity drives can be installed together in a RAID 1 configuration to prevent against lost data in the event of Hard Drive failure, or alternatively installed in one of any three additional modes (Standard, JBOD, RAID 0). Feature rich backup software and support for Apple® Time Machine are included to help ensure the integrity of important data from one or more computers.

D-Link Green

As part of D-Link Green, the DNS-320L also includes several features which make it both environmentally-friendly and cost-effective. Hard Drive power management and Smart Fan speed control reduce energy costs, minimise noise, and prolong the lifespan of installed Hard Drives.
