D-Link extends outdoor connectivity with Wireless N Dual Band Outdoor Access Point

DAP-3520 enables organisations to provide secure, fast and reliable outdoor wireless access

LONDON, 28th February 2013 - D-Link has today launched its latest Wireless N Dual Band Outdoor Access Point (DAP-3520), designed to meet the demand for fast, ubiquitous outdoor internet connectivity. The DAP-3520 is a flexible, switchable 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless access point with versatile deployment modes and is suitable for use in all weather conditions. This makes it perfect for small businesses or campuses that want to offer fast, wireless access to customers and visitors in their outdoor areas.

In the standard wireless access point mode, it is ideal for small business owners looking to enable Wi-Fi connection in outdoor areas of their business, such as pub gardens or coffee shop courtyards. With small businesses facing stiff competition to attract customers, outside wireless connectivity is a compelling differentiator.

It can also be used by organisations with multiple buildings spread over a large area, such as a university campus, to join networks together across buildings. This delivers improved wireless connectivity across a large area where Wi-Fi signal may have typically suffered weak points or interruptions. For these point-to-point deployments - where more than one network is connected - the access point has an embedded powerful directional antenna to focus the direction of the signal, thereby achieving the most superior outdoor connectivity in the desired area. Alternatively, two N-type antenna connectors are available if coverage is needed in all directions.

The new wireless outdoor access point features the 802.11n super-fast wireless technology standard for reliable wireless coverage. It also boasts Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) functionality, meaning users can simply connect a single cable that will carry data and power when connected to a compatible switch. This capability eliminates the need for additional electrical wiring or outdoor plug sockets. The DAP-3520 supports 64/128-bit WEP as well as WPA/WPA2 data encryption. While MAC address filtering and the ability to hide SSIDs (Service Set Identifiers), controls user access and further ensures no unwanted connection to the wireless network.

Specifically built to withstand all weather conditions, the model is IP65-rated, signalling that it has a robust enclosure and can be installed in locations with limited protection from the elements. It also features an in-built heater for installations where extreme cold weather is likely.

The DAP-3520 comes with D-Link's network management software, offering administrators multiple options for managing the network from a single location and carrying out regular maintenance checks of the access point centrally. This makes managing the entire network easier than ever.

Andrew Mulholland, Business Solutions Manager at D-Link UK & Ireland, commented: "Consumers increasingly want to be connected to their devices in any location. To satisfy growing ‘on the go' demands, small business owners and organisations are looking to provide fast wireless access throughout all areas of their business to boost customer loyalty. Furthermore, these wireless networks need to be cost-effective to deploy and easy to manage. As well as providing extended high-speed wireless access to outdoor spaces, the DAP-3520 removes the need for additional power cabling or outdoor power sockets, and its robust enclosure makes it weather resistant too."

TP-LINK Prepares Wireless Networking Product Lines for IPv6 Compatibility

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA (February 22, 2013) -- IPv6 may no longer be a protocol without a product line thanks to a growing number of manufacturers designing and tweaking their products to support the next generation Internet standard.

As one of the most competitive providers of networking solutions, TP-LINK is carrying through with its plan to improve its routers to ensure compliance with IPv6. TP-LINK is ready with a family of new and established networking products that comply with IPv6 by default or through firmware upgrades.

With the increasing number of new devices being connected to the Internet, the number of available IP addresses using the original IPv4 standard has been depleted. In fact, all IPv4 addresses have been assigned and there are no new addresses left. The exhaustion of IPv4 addresses makes support for IPv6 essential to satisfy the growth of IP address users and also important for the next generation of Internet.

The IPv6 protocol offers a near-limitless number of addresses as well as many new services such as privacy, higher security, built-in multicasting, new QoS (Quality of Service), which brings superior usability and improved user experiences. With IPv6 every device has its own unique, globally accessible IPv6 address versus IPv4, which allows multiple devices to share the same IP address through NAT (network address translation).

"The implication of every device having a unique IPv6 address is a boon for both home networks and mobile networks where latency is a factor," said Lewis Wu, Country Manager of TP-LINK USA. "But, rather than rebuilding their systems, many carriers have stayed with IPv4 and NAT because they felt it was too costly to switch. That decision is becoming a mute point."

To benefit from the advances of the IPv6 technology, TP-LINK recommends its high-performance and IPv6 Ready dual-band routers. Current routers supporting IPv6 include the N600 TL-WDR 3500/3600 dual band router; the N750 TL-WDR4300 dual band gigabit router; and the N900 TL-WDR4900 dual band gigabit router.

TP-LINK also has a family of ASDL products that support IPv6, which includes the TD-W8968 300Mbps Wireless N USB ADSL2+ Modem Router; the TD-W8970 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router; and the TD-W8980 N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit ADSL2+ Modem Router

Samsung Boosts Business Productivity With All New Laser Printer Line-Up

Samsung Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series feature powerful 600MHz CortexA5 processors and versatile mobile printing capabilities

PRINCIPALITY OF MONACO - February 4, 2013: Samsung Electronics today announces four new laser and multifunction printers designed to help small and medium-sized businesses boost their productivity and lower their operational costs.

"Small and medium-sized business customers are concerned with cost, reliability, performance and productivity. Samsung has worked hard to ensure our laser printer line-up reflects this and meets the requirements that our customers demand of us," said Graham Long, VP of Corporate Sales and IT Solutions, Samsung UK and Ireland. "As such, we have enhanced our business printer portfolio with a high performance yet cost-efficient solution that offers a worry-free printing experience. The Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series provide our customers with easy-to-use printing solutions that don't compromise on performance or cost. Samsung is one of the few vendors with the ability to provide such a wide selection of choice across A3 and A4 business printing."

Powerful performance with 600MHz Cortex-A5 processor

Powerful performance and reliability are at the core of the Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series. These new printers are powered by a 600MHz Cortex-A5 processor and feature high capacity memory for ultra-fast output speeds of up to 28 to 40 pages-per-minute. The Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series support a variety of paper types, including thick paper or cardstock, directly from the paper cassette and MP Tray.

The new printers feature Samsung's unique Rendering Engine for Clean Pages (ReCP) technology, which sharpens the edges of positive texts and enhances the readability of negative texts, producing some of the crispest outputs in business printing.

Competitive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

The Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series have been designed to be both cost competitive and environmental friendly. With a higher yield toner, the printers are able to print more while reducing the overall number of toner replacements.

Equipped with Samsung's Easy Eco Driver solution, the Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series enable custom settings to manage and control printing costs. For example, in the Eco driver tab, it is possible to set the Eco settings to avoid printing unnecessary texts or images, resulting in a more efficient use of toner and paper. The built-in duplexer, as well as printing multiple images on a single page, adds to the cost savings.

To further enhance the cost savings, these printers are also equipped with the One Touch Eco button, which automatically combines multiple pages into a single print output, saving time, paper, toner and money. As a result, the Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series require fewer toner cartridge replacements and deliver a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Easy Printing Solutions

The Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series include Samsung's Easy Printer Manager for easy real-time monitoring of printer usage, as well as easy-to-view statistics on printer maintenance for quick and accurate reporting.

These new printers are very versatile and easy-to-use with mobile devices, such as smartphones, notebook PCs and tables. As these mobile devices are increasingly being used, the Xpress M2875 and ProXpress M4070 series offer all the printing functionality required in a dynamic, on-the-go environment. It is possible to access and print files and documents from any mobile device installed with the Samsung Mobile Print app.
