The new STOR.E BASICS HDD offers 2TB of storage
5 February, 2013, Neuss - Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG), Storage Peripheral Division, has today announced the addition of a new 2TB (terabyte) portable hard drive (HDD) to its STOR.E BASICS range. The new 2TB STOR.E BASICS HDD has been developed by Toshiba to provide a simple storage solution with increased storage capacity. The STOR.E BASICS HDD not only comes with a massive 2TB worth of storage capacity, but also SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity and plug-and-play technology, for quick and easy use.
With the ever expanding digital libraries of today, high capacity, accessible storage is in demand. According to Gartner, there are currently around 330 exabytes of personal data in the cloud alone, and by 2016, that number is expected to grow several times to 4.1 zettabytes (or 4.1 trillion gigabytes).
Toshiba's STOR.E BASICS HDD is now capable of storing up to 571,000 digital photos, 526,000 digital music files or 1,640 downloaded digital movies[4]. Equipped with a special internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to keep consumers' digital files safe against accidental drops and with both 3.0 and 2.0 USB compatibility the STOR.E BASICS HDD provides rapid transfer speeds. The HDD is also both PC and Mac compatible so suitable for the majority of operating systems.
"With consumers requiring more secure storage for their digital libraries it is essential that we provide multiple storage solutions to match their needs. Our new 2TB HDD provides users with basic functionality and a large storage capacity to cater for vast amounts of data." said Arnaud Bonvarlet, Director EMEA, Storage Peripheral Division, Toshiba Europe GmbH.
