Toshiba UK today expands its new netbook range with the mini NB550D – a powerful 25.7cm (10.1”) multimedia netbook that allows users to enjoy high definition videos, stunning netbook performance and exceptional sound in a portable, premium chassis.
The Toshiba mini NB550D features the latest powerful dual-core AMD® processors with HD Internet Technology, delivering exceptional multimedia performance for a netbook. HD Internet Technology enables users to experience a faster, smoother web browsing experience, enjoy improved HD graphics and streamed content, and run multiple programs. An integrated HDMI® output makes it easy for users to enjoy high-definition content on HDTVs or projectors, and built in stereo speakers designed by audio specialist Harman Kardon® enable the mini NB550D to produce rich, full sounds from any source without the need for an external speaker system.
Entertainment, wherever you are
The Toshiba mini NB550D features a highly portable and lightweight chassis that weighs only 1.32kg and is just 17mm at its thinnest point – compact enough to be carried around all day. Thanks to a long-lasting battery, the mini NB550D will run for up to 9.5 hours without the need for an external power supply – more than enough to keep you entertained on a long-haul flight or for day-to-day use.
Small machine, big sound
The mini NB550D follows the mini NB520 with the inclusion of Harman Kardon® stereo speakers and Dolby® Advanced AudioTM technology. Pitch-perfect trebles, rich midtones and deep bass levels are clear at any volume, ensuring music, video or games sound incredible. In addition, the built in Harman Kardon® speakers can be used when connected to an MP3 player when the netbook is switched off, thanks to Toshiba’s Sleep-and-Music technology. Sleep-and-Charge also enables users to charge peripheral devices via USB when in sleep-mode, enabling mobile phones to charge.

A 25.7cm (10.1”) TruBrite® display with LED backlighting produces bright, clear and vivid images, providing the perfect platform for enjoying high definition films, browsing the web, or for viewing digital photograph collections wherever you are. Typing is quick and comfortable on the near full-size keyboard, and users can easily zoom, swipe or scroll through websites, images and documents thanks to a large touchpad with multi-touch control.
Like the other models in Toshiba’s new netbook range, the mini NB550D is available in a choice of brown or blue colour variations, while a stylish, engraved dot-pattern finish and matching coloured trim add additional flair to the overall design. A 250GB hard disk drive is large enough to store an extensive video, music and photograph collection, while 1GB of DDR3 RAM ensures the multiple programs run quickly and efficiently. The mini NB550D also includes the latest wireless connectivity, allowing users to get online from any WiFi hotspot.
